What are the target fish?
Target fish include Redfish, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Black Drum, Sheepshead. While the fishing in South Padre Island is excellent year round, there are certain points in the year when it is at its very best. South Padre Island Redfish fishing is at its best, starting from March to May. The inshore Redfish fishing then peaks from August to November. During this time period Redfish are found feeding close to shore in the many coastal marshes of South Padre Island. The Speckled Trout or Sea Trout fishing in South Padre Island is best from February to March and in the later part of the summer from June To August. During these points of the year anglers fishing in South Padre Island are likely to experience some of the best Speckled Trout fishing in the county. South Padre Island is known for producing some Trophy Speckled Trout! Black Drum and Flounder fishing in South Padre Island is best done in the summer months.
